Official thread sponsor: The Denim Doctor. First aid for your old denim.

———————————————————————————-

Acne - fit true to size

APC New Standards -size down 2 or even 3 from true waist size

APC New Cures - size down 1 or 2 from true waist size

April 77 - size down 1 or 2 from true waist size

Dior raw 19s and 21s - have vanity sizing and are labelled as two sizes smaller than actual size

Edwin Nashvilles - size down 1" - quite a different fit to most jeans out there though (massive rise, loose at thigh and comparitively tapered at the leg).

Julian Red - fit small, so maybe true to size on raw and possibly size up on non raws

Nudies - size down 1 or 2

Raf by Raf - true

Ring - true

His Dad died unfortunately a few months back so I think Mike's taken on the full tailoring side of the business, and got some apprentices/family in to look after the alterations/denim side. They're also open 1 day less per week, so I'm only speculating that there could be a delay/backlog on postal items.

They are vanity sized. Have 31 waist and 30 fit me without being tight. Cuts vary but generally very slim.

Anyone sent denim off to Son of a stag or Ironheart for hemming recently? Wondering how long they took to do the job and send back.

Iron Heart chain stitched and sent them back to me (via DPD) the same day they received them. Impeccable service in my opinion.

Also, personally I would avoid Denim Doctor for repairs these days. There are better out there, such as http://www.misterhandydenim.com/ who properly use the darning technique.

Have to agree with rirawin, denim doc has always been OK, but I've had better work done at Son of a Stag. Plus, he seems to be unable/unwiling to do certain work that even a standard high st. alterations store was able to do- sent him some trousers to taper along with a pair of jeans to repair and he said he couldn't taper the trousers for some reason so went to my local alterations place, who handled it with ease.

Have the skinny fit jeans and the fit is great. Went true (31) but they've stretched out quite a bit wish i'd gone for 30 now…

On topic of fits, anyone know how Sandro jeans fit, specifically the 'Spector' corduroys?

Anyone interested in some indigo Samurai 710's? W31, and Denim Doctor hemmed to L31" after a light soak to remove shrinkage. Worn a couple of times, still stiff as a board and could pass as new.
