Official thread sponsor: The Denim Doctor. First aid for your old denim.

———————————————————————————-

Acne - fit true to size

APC New Standards -size down 2 or even 3 from true waist size

APC New Cures - size down 1 or 2 from true waist size

April 77 - size down 1 or 2 from true waist size

Dior raw 19s and 21s - have vanity sizing and are labelled as two sizes smaller than actual size

Edwin Nashvilles - size down 1" - quite a different fit to most jeans out there though (massive rise, loose at thigh and comparitively tapered at the leg).

Julian Red - fit small, so maybe true to size on raw and possibly size up on non raws

Nudies - size down 1 or 2

Raf by Raf - true

Ring - true

Had a few pairs hemmed by them. Really nice guys, but i did have to bring both pairs back. One pair had slightly different leg lengths and the chain stitching on the other was a little loose. Would stick with the denim doctor.

Hey people. Total newbie here!

Does anyone recommend (or have anything to say about) Edwin ED-67 jeans? What is the fit like? Should I adhere to the sizing rules mentioned in the sticky at the top of this page?

I am normally a 32" waist and wondering if I should go as low as 30" if I want a slightly slimmer fit.

Also can anyone suggest some relatively cheap but decent selvedge/ Japanese denim jeans for a newbie?

Thanks in advance!

Edwin jeans generally fit two inches bigger than their tagged size. e.g. if you buy a tagged 30w the waist will actually be 32". This is known as vanity sizing, and most jeans do this.

If you're looking for the japanese type fit (ala vintage levi's etc), then Edwin nashville's get quite a bit of love on here. They are selvedge denim and have a looseish seat with a comparatively (to other japanes-ish selvedge denim) tapered leg and narrow leg opening.

Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it.

I can get a pair of Ed-67s for £38 which is why I asked about that particular one. Is it not selvedge then?

Ideally I'm looking to dip my foot in the water of premium denim with a cheap starter pair.

Go for a 28" or a 29" if you're a large 30" mate.

I got a pair of the slim ones - they're really good fit. Quality is decent as well, although I feel the ones from 2 years ago (before the tenner price hike) were heavier oz denim.

I think most on here will agree they're not worth that price.

I bought some a few years back when they were constantly on offer at like £40 and I definitely wouldn't have paid any more.

Yeah I paid £60, felt it was a little much when I could've got a branded pair of selvedge for the same price in sales, but the fit worked for me and it's hard finding a good fitting pair of denim, so just had to have em, don't regret it, i love em.
