———————————————————————————-

Acne - fit true to size

APC New Standards -size down 2 or even 3 from true waist size

APC New Cures - size down 1 or 2 from true waist size

April 77 - size down 1 or 2 from true waist size

Dior raw 19s and 21s - have vanity sizing and are labelled as two sizes smaller than actual size

Edwin Nashvilles - size down 1" - quite a different fit to most jeans out there though (massive rise, loose at thigh and comparitively tapered at the leg).

Julian Red - fit small, so maybe true to size on raw and possibly size up on non raws

Nudies - size down 1 or 2

Raf by Raf - true

Ring - true

Thought the consensus on here was that Nudie quality wasn't up to much? I'll be ripped for this but I'd put Edwin above LVC for quality.

I'm still an idiot at 5.30am - they are the 1954 501Z straight legs that were in the Mr. Porter sale. Went TTS. Cheers for the advice. Think I'll give the bath soak a whirl and try and tune out my flatmate's mockery during the drying. As they've already got a 'slightly distressed finish' are they likely to shrink as much?

Surely if they're slightly distressed, they aren't raw and so don't need soaking?

I dunno man, you're probably right. I'm a denim neophyte, hence the confusion. They just had a note on the porter page saying to size up due to shrinkage.

iirc nudies are 11.5oz italian denim and edwins are heavier/better quality japanese denim, right?

Just had a look, I don't get that, the jeans have already been washed at least once which would have been part of the distressing process, which is also why they are lighter than raw LVCs ( or any raw denim for that matter). I would be very surprised if they shrank anymore, especially if they were washed on a cold or cool setting. Looking at the items measurements on the site would also imply they have already shrunk, the larger waist sizes on there have smaller actual waist sizes than the tag size.

Both make different weights. Nudie is Italian made, Edwin is Japanese denim assembled in Tunisia (ED71, ED55 etc) or Japan (Sen, Hon, Tokyo Slim etc).

Cheers beedub. I didn't entirely get it either - maybe they're just compensating for levis' flaky sizing & a layman's machine wash. Glad I went true size anyway from what you've said.

Seems like a business opportunity for Self Edge or someone like them to set up shop in the UK?

How come Son of a Stag don't have Samurai's?

Well Son of a Stag have a lot of Japanese denim that's no more well known than Samurai and they're doing alright.
