dare i say it but as individual players, assuming the bin dippers are one of those top three sides you mention, i'd take nearly everyone from the goons over anyone from the scouse

Based purely on footballing ability and not just how much you hate the mickeys, you'd really go with the Arses unknowns over Gerrard, Carragher, Alonso, Mascherano, Kuyt, Agger, Finnan, Sissoko, Riise & the rest. Now I know this shower are no world beaters, but at least I recognise their bloody names!

The Arsenal players are of a far higher ability than the Liverpool players. The only one I'd take from the Liverpool team is Gerrard. Carragher is so overrated it's untrue. If he was in a team that played any sort of expansive football he'd be dicked on every week.

im pretty sure every arsenal fan respects henry's decision. never seen a player leave with so much dignity

A rat and a sinking ship springs to mind.
How many of Arsenals first choice 11 would seriously get into the top 3 sides? Gallas & Fabregas are the only 2 who would get close. Just not enough quality in the squad now and Henry knew it. Could be the beginning of the end. No more va va voom now.

Arsenal still have real quality. Adebayor, Van Persie, Toure and Eboue could all be added to the list of players that would get into top three squads.

I did miss Toure off my original post but you're still only left with a handful who could get into the top 3 squads. And you can't say they are real quality, ffs Arsenal had Viera, Bergkamp, Cole, Pires, Henry and the rest not that long ago, that was real quality. This current team will get kicked all over the place next seson, top 6 finish is best they can hope for. Think about where they where 4 or 5 years ago, rightly challenging United to be the number 1 team in the country. I hated them, but they had class all over the pitch, household names, players at the top of their game. They've slipped a long way back since then, the continuity in strengthening/rebuilding the side has gone, along with all the big guns.

Better attack. Better balanced midfield. better defence. Liverpool are a well managed team of average players with one world class player. their brand of football is shit.

Fact is Benitez is a superb manager but he's terrible in the transfer market. How many buys does he ship in one season and out the next? Arsenal were on Liverpools coat tails this season which barely 1 fit striker for most of it and no centre backs. the young players will improve further as well. People overate Liverpool every season. I can see Spurs challenging them for 4th.

Suggesting that Arsenal would finish 2 places lower this year means I'm on drugs?

Them finishing out of the top 4 means you're on drugs. when has that happened in the past 10 years?

Aye i cant begrudge him for wanting to leave. I doubt he will play in that game mate, unless otherwise stated?

Dunno, hope so! Ronaldinho and Eto'o are contracted to play but doubt TH will be unless maybe Eto'o leaves. Although given TH's injuries last season, they might think he needs some games. Although I hate to think what he could do to us! Eek

And for what it's worth, I thought Henry was proper dignified when he left. No disrespect to anyone, big love to staff and fans and made what's likely to be his last move to a great club. Can't complain about that.

wellworn, by your own admission pool have few to no world beaters (bar of couse the ineffable stevie g)- so why bother comparing the "top 3" squads to Bergkamp, Pires, Henry et al who are all far better than anyone liverpool have had for yonks - compare Kuyt, headless chicken Sissoko, Finnan, Jamie "QE2" Carragher and the like to the goons golden boys and they look crap too, they also look one-paced and one dimensional compared to toure, eboue, van persie even bloody adebayor - even spurs have more "footballer" footballers than pool Eye-wink

So because it hasn't happened in the last 10 years, it means that it can't happen. I reckon this is probably the weakest squad they've had during that time. I was going to Old Trafford for more than 10 years before I saw a United team that even looked capable of challenging for the league, and then another 5 years before they had one good enough to win it! Granted, Arsenals youngters might cut it, but there's no gaurantee, and I've just got a feeling that this could be the start of a decline in their fortunes.
