majority of those rick leathers are only going for 250-280 on ebay, still profit but the market seems proper flooded with them.

guess everyone who was willing to spend 4-600 got their hands on one now, still a good quick profit though!

that's because RO high water mark has been and gone; has been overstocked and is now well on the downward trajectory as far as a broader market is concerned.
same with every brand in the end. the mystique is gone, the supply and access to product goes up, the demand goes down.

But it is not a continuous flux, not even flooded, 5-10 jackets is not much when you see 50-100 All Saints new leathers sold at 150-200 average. So as someone has pointed out, the price of these will increase if the seller would have more patience, anyway, I was looking for a jacket in my size (L) and the price has not been lower than 400, only one used from 09 was sold at 300 hours ago.

plus 400 for a rick owens is fucking crazy cheap. yet people aren't paying that on eBay atleast from what I can see.

That was the example of a jacket at 300 that I told you. Sorry mate my bad, 20-30 RO jackets but mostly XS and XL. TK offers these jackets at 150 (different from yoox at +500), but it is a fact that they do not have +k, so you could get your conclusions of when is the right moment to buy, now at 350 or in a month or two at +400.

You are right mate, RO is getting seriously famous. Whatever, at the end of the day the majority of the buyers of these leather are outside UK, so we could consider these bargains another advantage of living in this awesome country.

you can "blame" it on appalling timing. the RO shop nr the american embassy opened 2/3 yrs too late and at a time when harvey nicks and harrods were hugely discounting at sale time, liberty less so but the market was flooded. i wouldn't be surprised if the stand alone store closes in the next year or so as the brands time in the UK to a broad market is most likely largely diminished

i dont think RO needs "rescuing", it will just shrink back to a smaller scale brand (certainly in the UK)
8 Sep 2012 00:21
That is very likely, and maybe in the future a big conglomerate will rescue the brand as MMM and many others. But now RO is more famous and there is opportunity of a bargain jacket or arbitrage knowing the place and the time.

We'll see mate, anyways I think none of these scenarios will be in the short term.

Harrods never had 50+ leather jackets lined up at £150 each though did they. Also, Yoox mark old stuff up at like 75% retail. Some of this tkmaxx stuff is being sold at 7.5% retail price.

Selfridges got Rick really visable now so can help reselling prices.
