But is that wrong, if they are happy ?

Perhaps we should all learn to be happy with what we've got ?

Not at all, i'm jealous. I wish i could be happy with that life.
This is exactly how i feel. My biggest downfall is my intelligence and drive to prosper. What i wouldnt give to have a bit o my brain removed and be one of them gormless forever happy morons.

didn't think i'd have to explain this, it kind of ruins the whole thing having to explain it, but… it was just a joke.

not enough at the moment. especially if youve got dependents.

I'm sure there are millions of families living on much less than 50K

of course there are. not what id call comfortably though, especially in an expensive city.

Pretty crazy that the levels of Aspergers in kids around Palo Alto, Cupertino, Silicon Valley etc are so high.

Absolutely no surprise to me! Laughing out loud

You might struggle in London, I think you could manage anywhere else in the country, and it depends on your definition of "comfortably" I guess.

Shows we are materialist bastards!… Whilst I prefer the term aspirationalists.

I wouldn't be happy on 50k as you said many would grab at the chance at knowing they'd be receiving a fixed sum salary. Well in the short-run they'd see the positives, whether they'd consider the long-run negatives is another thing.

(If we theoretically take out the time value of money etc)

exactly all down to definition. for me its everything, property, holidays, cars, supporting wife, sending kids to private school. need a hell of a lot more than 50 for that.

haha sending your kids to private school… what a waste of money. i was meant to go to a private school but then my parents looked into a local state school which was actually real good. i didnt grow up in a bubble like many of my friends from primary school
