in what way is it 'shit' so far do you think? thought the first episode was quality, nicely building up and showing how fucked up some of them have got. can see this getting dark! that bath scene sent shivers up my spine

Shivers up spine? Laughing out loud I just felt disappointed at that point that they were still bringing that story into it , especially now he is dead.

Most of it is badly acted, character development not done as well as before as concentrating too much on a few main characters and the main story is about Shaun wanting to dump some ugly bird for a slightly better looking one. We have better stories than that in the life advice thread. Drug scene was the only thing slightly well done so far but it's been done well before, so nothing knew.

there wasnt much going on, but i think it was well acted and it is only one episode in. the scenes between woody and his boss were funny too.

This is England 88 is clearly building to some really big event, like it always does.

I don't think it's badly acted at all smith.

I think the storytelling's right good. I can't think of a single thing that anyone's done that seems out of character- it feels real but not quite predictable.

We're hitting a good point in this post Sopranos tv world, seems like British tv is learning from america, and vice versa.

The shock factor will be in tonight's episode for sure. Film was the violence and racism, 86 was rape scene.

What you all reckon tonight's will be?

Going for attempted suicide by Woody myself, when he finds out LOL loves banged up Combo. Not revealing whether it was successful or not leaving us all itching for another series.

88' resembles nothing of 1988 whatsoever which was early rave days (only saw first one).

In Sheffield? The rave culture will be the next '90 series. The north is always two years behind.

^ not quite - started listening around 88 - butterloggie middlesbrough which I'm sure was 88/89 then to Ossett/Morley 90 - possibly earlier - good times but messy memories.

I don't think it would have quite fit with the first two if this series was about them getting off their nuts at raves, the ghost of Lol's dad having it large and giving them all a big hug.

Laughing out loud

Also heaven forbid that anyone would try and cling on to a culture they grew up with…especially all in a series about growing up, finding yourself, etc.

BUT NO THE EVERS PROGRESS TRAIN MUST MOVE ON CHOO CHOO.
