When DJT isn't available coz he's too busy kicking ass I also use shipito. Never had a problem and I used their assisted purchase to get stuff off sites that don't take foreign cards (why should they? Fuck the dumb ass rest-of-the-world, USA!) for the first time the other day to get stuff off Hanes.com. Worked perfect and their fee was pretty minimal. I've used Sayword before that who's always reliable but seems to be MIA from here these days.. Sad

Off track a little, but what price in dollars should I ask someone to mark down to avoid paying U.K. Customs?

Don't know if they mark down but a guy at work used https://www.myus.com/ for a shipment of 5+ Baseball & NFL hats from some lids. Didn't pay no customs. Could be worth a look.

Seems there isn't a 'FromJapan' type website for the US, common theme here but anyone know of a proxy? Ideally one that acts as a shipping agent so I can pay direct to the retailer, just looking to get a single item.

I use Shipito. You pay for it and send it to their warehouse address.
If you do want to consolidate, last time I used them (about 6 months ago) you had subscribe to a package and pay a fee. I'm not sure if it's still like that.

Thanks TIMDOT.

Can you specify value / type of item using their service?

It seems hard to accurately estimate shipping costs as the weight & size of an item will be very dependant on how the retailer packages it. The retailer I'm looking at charge a flat $55 int shipping (however all taxes would be levied on top of this) but a quote from Shipito for shipping seems a lot more.

Yep you dictate what value is on it.
I had a box that was 14.50 x 14.50 x 10.50 that cost $60 to send. But then I had another that could of fit through a letterbox if it was packed better that cost $27. You can see how I was pissed at how they changed consolidating. With the value of the items it still came out better than being stung by customs.

If it's electronics, don't risk it.
