just got an order sent to Shipito's Oregon warehouse. value about 330 USD. will mark down customs declaration etc. but just wondering if anyone knows what chances are there that UK customs will bust it open and slam a fee on it? would it be a wise idea to get Shipito to cut the tags off, or does this make no difference?

my American sister in law had her family gifts slashed open by UK customs over Christmas, hence the caution.

cheers.

interested in buying something from mr porter US and getting it sent via shipitto or similar. thing is item costs 1000usd+ so afraid of being stung by customs/shipping value, etc. anyone had any experience doing similar before?

I’m very keen to see if anyone can either offer to proxy from US or recommend a service personally! Anyone?

Yeah Shipito is the one. Never had any bother with them. Just takes a while unless you want to spend A LOT to get it sooner

They let you fill in the customs declaration yourself.

They can also combine separate shipments, repackage items, etc. They do anything you want

Yeah there’s a list of requests and a seperate box for anything else you want them to do. They will take pictures for you to see your item, take labels off, use extra tape. All costs like $1 so that’s where it starts adding up if you go overboard

I’ll have a look - thanks very much! It’s for a couple of pairs of Aldens. Nearly £400 saved if I can proxy from the US (less shipping and fees - even then £300 min. I expect). Worth the effort.
