seenmy wrote: depends where in canada, temp wise be fine in vancouver but the rain would get you, real sheep lining (full lining) warmer than the fleece version, can really compare with veilance as totally different jackets tbh, i love my sheep lined deck hand and for sure get a lot more wear out of it than any of the valdez i had, but as a every day 'utility' jacket id get a veilance Anneal or what ever the new version of that jacket is Altus i think

Will be on the east coast, Toronto & Montreal. I dont have a lot of experience with Veilance (had a partition coat once that I returned due to sizing) but I always felt like it wasnt compelling enough vs main-line arcteryx which is already really good. But i may need to educate myself on the differences

thanks for the insights. TBH I probably should indeed go the technical jacket route but i've been eyeing a deckhand for a minute so just looking for an excuse lol

I mean east coast is canada goose territory depending what you are doing, the difference between mainline arc and veilance is not much, more than fit and a little bit of detailing, no branding etc performance wise constriction and materials very similar, a vis deckhand will 100% not see you through an east coast canada winter.

you would probably want the Altus/monitor down or node down from veilance to get you close to what you need with some layers for east coast weather in my opinion
