yeah read the 3 of them, was nice to read a few shorter books afterwards on holiday
ready player one - need to be a bit geeky/into 80's pop culture but really enjoyed it.
the devotion of suspect x - nice twists and turns, awesome crime thriller with a really clever ending.
Gonna really quickly read The Farseer Trilogy 1 - The Assassin's Apprentice now as a mate who knows I like game of thrones (and subsequent) keeps badgering me to read it.
Then gonna delve into another murakami, undecided between Norweigan Wood/Kafka on the Shore…

I'd read Norwegian Wood then Kafka, especially if you've just finished 1Q84. Found that Kafka and 1Q84 were kinda similar.

Norwegian Wood is shit. If it was by any other author, no-one would recommend it.

well i guess i'll decide that when i read it… as far as I can gather it was the first novel to really generate the murakami hype so it can't be playing on his name too much surely?

Just finished Clockers by Richard Price, one of the writers from The Wire. Admittedly haven't read too many works of fiction recently but love the guy's writing style, so easy to just get absorbed into the book for hours at a time. Has all the same great things about The Wire: gripping storylines, balanced characters to empathise with and the dialogue is brilliant. Definitely recommend, 100x better than the Spike Lee film.

thought it was cool when in Mostar this year to see some of the remnants of the war then seen a video whilst in the city of how the bridge was destroyed and some accounts which were pretty shocking, so I rooted out some books to read.
just finished a great read about the residents of one street in Sarajevo during the war.

been reading a lot of paul celan lately. i've been trying to get into ursula le guin because i've heard her books are great but the sci-fi element (even if it's just a pretext for some existential analysis of what it means to 'be' etc) bugs me. just finished fante's ask the dust which is one of the best books i've read in a while. lots of streams of consciousness and self loathing. short and sweet. recommended.
