A busy day of invoicing customers who aren’t paying anytime soon. Off to lunch with some IRL fRiEnDs

Wish I was like this..
Caught myself more than once looking at my own fit thinking I've spend too much money on what could pass as hm or uniqlo. Not aimed at abagnale whatsoever this mind, just me remembering all the times my 'elevated basics' made people roll their eyes when I told them how much I had spend on it.Jimmy Hill jawdrop

Never really bothered me. As if you buy the right pieces at the right price they will always hold there value or ever so slightly decline when the time comes to move them on. Anything HM or Uniqlo loses 100% of its value as soon as it’s been worn.

^You're right, but I wasn't going on about value but how it looks.

I used to be able to spend a lot on pretty plain clothing, thinking I somehow looked much better than the same person dressing head to toe in similar looking uniqlo garb.
I mean sure, sometimes you can really tell by the cut or fabric, but by and large I've grown skeptical about spending $$$ on something like a merino crewneck or a white oxford.

Anyway, my two cents. Probably just a trauma from having to explain to other people too often why I'm skint while looking just like them Cry

I get that and I'm aware most people won't know the difference between what I am wearing today vs. an outfit from H&M and would be mortified at the price. But we fukers can see and feel the difference, and I like that it's understated.

Anyway the white oxford has an elk leather zip puller so surely I look baller Laughing out loud

Surely you wear the outfit for yourself and not others? I think wearing items that you know are of good quality / standard gives you that edge wherever you may be wearing them. Sort of makes you feel good in a sanctimonious fashion.

I agree. I don't buy and wear my clothes for anyone else but myself. Love my gear like most people here I imagine.
