I wouldn't advise the tiki one, it blows your head off.

Found out the other month I live about 20 minutes Haymans Gin distillery.

Gin is fantastic, tastes miles better than others in that price range.

Wine drinkers in here, do any of you know where I can pick up a few bottles of Ariola Marcello Lambrusco in London?

It's a mates 30th coming up and he's into his whiskey, I on the other hand don't really drink the stuff. Anyone got any recommendations for £60ish? Single malt, something a bit different as he always likes stuff a bit out of the ordinary, ideally I'd get a 30 year old one but I'm gone be priced out the market.

Kavalan?

https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/b/305/kavalan-other-whisky

They won an award for best single malt in 2015 for one of their whiskys'. Last year I bought a sample set for my boss who's a whisky fiend and he found them a refreshing change from his Japanese/Irish/Scottish/English bottles in his collection. So much so he asked me to pick up a couple 70cl bottles for him from my trip to Taiwan last month.

Rira is that the one they have in Bao? If so I tried it and thought it was brilliant.

Bit pricey for me, might look at one of the cheaper options by them though. Cheers rira

Jura is good, I've always got at least one bottle of it on the go but it's maybe a bit "ordinary" as a gift for someone who's really into his whisky.

Joe, do you know (or can you find out) if he has a preference for region (Island, Speyside, etc) or a favourite brand? That would make it easier to suggest something.

Failing that, any of these would be appreciated by a whisky aficionado and are all a bit less than common so it's probably unlikely he has one of them.

If you also click the "All (383)" tab there are plenty of interesting ones in there too.

Asahi brewed in Japan is my go to widely available in Australia. Although I've read rumours that the "karakuchi" label (as opposed to the Nama label in the Japan market) is actually brewed in Thailand?? Not marked on the packaging, and taste is waaaay better than the Chinese version, pretty sure it's the real mccoy. Drinking it tonight:

When I can get to a Jap convenience store in Sydney or Melbourne this is the ultimate for me:

I also enjoy this a lot when I can get it:

I'm not grown up enough for Jap whiskeys yet. Maybe when I can grow a beard.
