im due an upgrade on t-mobile, well im three months away till the recurring 18 month contract is up, but they allow you an early one for being on a high tarif. (but really its not early, cos they changed the contracts from 12 months to 18 a couple of years back)
i rang up today and asked for the same fone as i got last time, the nokia 8800 carbon arte…..and they said that will be £499 upgrade price, but they havent even got any…they then said we have got the gold one tho, which i thought, yeah that will do, nice and tacky and match my watch, they wanted £999 for that one. Jawdropping!

if i wait till the actual time my contract is up in three months i can have the normal one for £300 or the gold one for £800.
very good to me aint they, only been with then 15 years on the highest tariffs as well. Cool

Sorry, just read its actually called WhatsApp, and it works through the data connection.

But if I'm abroad wouldn't it cost loads to send these messages to other people cos I'd be on roaming? Also, if I switch my sim out for another one, it'd charge for the data I assume. So really it doesn't have any real benefits over texting, especially as I have way more free texts than I need anyway.

don't know how often you go abroad? you could use free wi-fi instead?

basically i don't see what the fuss is about Blackberry Messenger, but then again, I've never used it and only have 1 friend who owns a BB too. I get 1600 free text a month (simplicity) lucky if i use a half of them.

had the same problem with t-mobile…eventually got the g2 touch for £30. first time they offered it to me for £200+.

keep trying/try closer to your renewal date…i know they restrict upgrades at certain times of the year.

seen the new tesco deal? £30/month for 'unlimited'(£500) calls/txts…no phone though…not sure about internet - but do you even use the internet on the 8800?

Try vodafone noble. My Mum used to get £200+ phone bills with several companies because she travels a lot for work. Now she pays something similar to you and gets whatever phone she wants (including similar topper ones) free. I'll try and find out what the tariff is exactly. I think it may be beneficial for her because of the free international calls so if you won't use them then it may not be for you.

If you threaten to leave though I bet they'll suddenly offer it to you for free.

New phone this week… I was on 02 pulling out £35 for 600 mins and unlimited texts and net and had three months left…

Went to phones for you and told them I wanted the HTC Hero (T-Mobile G2)… They paid me £150 to pay contract off and gave me a hero on orange with 1200 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited interweb…

The hero phone is immense. I'd go as far to say better than the iPhone, but then again I hate apple and think they're going to take over the world.

HTC Hero looks alright actually. Better than the HTC diamond I had last year. Was dogshit and I had to ditch it.

Yeah, wasn't really sure what to expect as wasn't really keen on the old HTC stuff with Windows mobile on.

The seven screen android system is really good. Only thing I would say is it's a little heard to figure out at first.

I'm really happy with the handset though and the extra stuff! Just hope Orange's net coverage is decent.

I've been with T-Mobile since the begining i.e. Mercury. Every time I pull the same stunt when my contract is up. I call up and ask about this phone and that phone and then say "it's no good I'm going to leave". At this point they transfer you to a team who can offer all sorts of deals whereupon I just push and push. I use the phone for work so like you I'm on high tarriffs and settle by D/D. This year I got a free SE W995, free unlimited texts, free insurance, free speakers, even then I said I wasn't sure at which point they took a third off the line rental! The phone is amazing. They hate losing customers who pay bug bills so tell them you want XYZ or you are leaving. You'll get it…..just you see…

I tried to tell my network I was leaving and they said OK! Superb, the W995 isn't a top of the range phone (you can get it for free on a £25 a month tarriff), everybody gets free unlimited texts now and the speakers aint worth shit! Free insurance (as long as it covers the whole contract) is alright though

What's the camera on the W995 like, indoors, in low light? And what about the flash? I've yet to find a phone with a better camera than the K800i. Pisses me off so much everytime they bring a new one out and it's all singing, all dancing and then the camera is absolute shit (K850i for example)

WERD!

they dont give a shit, ive tried the old 'im leaving three different times of the day, keep ringing back making out its the first time ive called to try and get a nice person, but EVERY single time, they have all said 'O.K' thats your choice' when i say im off to another network, to get the phone ive always had, at a sensible price.

truss, the networks dont care about black people.

they only care about payg these days, cos the people above have made them charge to cheap for their pacakages and they more often than not lose money on the phones….so if you going, they wave you off happily and spark up a nice fat la di dar.
