Mad that we're going back into patent AF1 territory!

For some reason I feel like this is cultural appropriation on Virgil's behalf taking black American culture and selling it to the world, even though he's Nigerian.

I see he is bridging the culture by using GZA, Lupe, and telling a story of a hood phenomenon, which makes it look like it can't be cultural appropriation.

But nobody in the culture is going to be able to get these garish kicks. Its going to be for clout and people lacking any culture whatsoever, at least not an authentic one built from nothing; like the one he sourcing.

Then again his whole career has been appropriation. It'd be nice to see him reference his culture once instead of everyone else's.

Ghanaian=/=Black American, aka Descendent from US Slaves. The majority of what is considered "black American."

Less than 20% of "black Americans" are immigrants, including first second and third generation that have been here so far. America has always prevented much black immigration, especially after Marcus Garvey.

The first wave came around civil rights allowing black immigrants to come over, usually students which is why you have so many in the civil Rights movement. After the government clamped down that, there was another resurgence in the '80s.
