So what are you paying £8000 for ?
but the be all and end all of it was that you are buying into that lifestyle, your £8000 rolex watch says to you and everyone that you have made it.
it was a rhetorical question, I know why people buy them.
thats what gets me, people buy £8000 watches and earn 20'000 a year, drive a mini cooper and try to skip drink rounds down the pub. They aint made shit.
They think if they own the watch the rest, the MD possition, the villa in Mexico, the yacht, the glamour girlfriend, will just follow 'cause people will know you mean bussiness.name one person or is it another urban myth?
Me. But I own it for the classic design and utilitarianism, not the associated "lifestyle". My watch basically goes with everything for all time. I`ll never buy another watch, I`ll never need to. I`ll hand it down to my son if I ever have one. In a way its economical.no beef mil, but your watch is a 1500 quid jobbie…riris coats cost more than that, they talking about the big hitters versions like daytonas etc mate.
actually it was 420,000yen or almost 3000 pounds. `06 Submariner Date I picked up used but as new externally that retails for 520,000yen in Japan or over 3000 pounds.
And before you belittle my lowly stainless steel submariner for its modest price remember that 3000 pounds to me is a lot more than whatever you paid for your gold Roleys to you. So who loves their timepiece more? Me who earns around 12000 pounds a year or you?
btw you would have to pay ME to wear that blue and gold monstrosity you have. What you have is flashy and ostentacious. It doesn`t actually look good, it just makes stupid people who don`t know anything about style jealous.i sold an 06 submariner for 1500 quid at the end of last year, thats all they are worth…you got properly fucking ripped off im afraid to say…should of pm'ed me first mayn. unlucky.
No sounds like you did if you sold a date for that much.here mayn, your watch for 3000 dollars/£1800/286,000 yen…..sell yours back to the shop and buy that one and be quids in…kerching.

a rolex costing £8000 doesnt keep time as well as a £10 quartz watch

I'm after a new watch, not spending big time money like some on here. Would like something nice looking for up to about £300, something along the lines of the IWC's on the first page. What sort of names/brands should I be looking at for a decent quality one at a reasonable price? Don't really want a fashion watch.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
