I'm not sold on the chunkier case / lug appearance on the newer version. Then there's also the premium to pay for the newer version.

Buy with care, lots of fakes and franken watches around. TZ UK forums are good for private sales.

Yeah, there is going to be a fair bit of due dilligence involved but I'm confident I can pick up a non-franken watch/fake.

Just need to keep my eye out and ask the right questions.

Would be keen to hear from owners of the old DJ on how they like the watch.

This is my rose gold/ss 116201- I know it won't get a lot of love on here, but I think it's amazing and find I wear it far more than my Sub or GMT these days. I've got quite a slim wrist and I think the size is perfect. The SS 36mm DJ is a true classic IMHO.

Not really a datejust but here is my 18038.
You'll be able to see the difference on the lugs and bracelet with the above ^.

I'm really happy of it but I don't wear it really often.

16234 would be a good choice, fluted bezel is my opinion the best option on older datejusts. One of my coworker bought a 116234 (blue dial) and I found it awful, fluted bezel is too much on it.

I wear my gold datejust 18k 1600 quite often, the black dial makes it easy to wear.

Any ideas why the GMT BLNR has gone up in prices recently? Got mine for £5,300 just over a year ago..

What watch forums do you all look at? I used to moderate on, what was then, one of the better known forums many years ago, but left the scene after becoming pretty jaded with it all.

Are you talking retail? The retail has been the same since launch. Did you get a discount?

Seems likely the whole range will get around a 10% increase soon though.

Birdman for the win. That's lovely. How old is it? I assumed it only came on the jubilee bracelet in rose gold.

I bought it brand new from Rudells, a jewellers in Birmingham but it might have been £5,500… Can't remember off the top of my head. What is the retail on them anyway?

Not in the same league as you Ballers but need some advice. Looking at spending around a grand on a grown up watch. Like the look of the Sinn U1 (not sure if I'd get sick of the design/size), 104, 103. Glycine Combat sub, Airman….anything else I should look out for?

£5950. Bought mine just over 2 years ago and that's what I paid too. Maybe they charged you the price of the standard GMT 2c - £5600? Either way it'll be more soon!

Thanks, it's about 3 years old (It's got the new oysterlock clasp). I think it just looks 'right' on the wrist - I much prefer a bi-metal on the oyster bracelet too.

You can get a Speedmaster reduced for that sort of money, or does that not appeal? Sinn and Glycine both good options too.
