Seiko skx007/009 - pretty much as good as anything you could pick up for £500 and will only set you back £200ish

Seikos and G Shocks are a standard that no one can really argue with but it's difficult to rep them on here where everyone has 10k Rolies. Same as no one does WAYWT in head to toe J Crew or Ralph.

Skx007 is a good shout, but the stock bracelet is shit, and it's well worth upgrading with a wjean replacement

It's always a Rolex though and rarely ever one of the more recherche brands. Seen a Junghans get a shout, but besides that none of the other manufacturers get a look in, be they Swiss, German or Japanese. Japanese watches especially are excellent value for money, in my humble opinion.

Speaking of Seikos, Creation has a big sale on with substantial reductions

Turtles for just over £250, skx007/09s for a smidgen over £150

Also citizen nighthawks which I have a real soft spot for, also around the £150 mark.

My missus dad picked me one up when after she moved to join me in the Middle East. Its a Japan made version of the SKX007 and has an Arabic day date. It's great as a beater.

Liking the look of the Sinn 104, the Squale 1521 and (though this may be out of my price range) the Omega Speedmaster (looking for a 42mm one if anyone is looking to flip one and is favorable to some 0% finance type dealSmiling ). Anything else decent out there (i've decided against Seiko) for around a grand?

The Squale is cool. That said, I gravitate towards more unusual watches, so that is why I'd pick it in preference to the Sinn.

Have you considered a Fortis? They give you a lot of bang for your buck, so to speak. The B42 is a neat watch.

Ubercool Trent

Posted this link earlier but didn't work for some reason - http://countycomm.com/maratacpilotmid.html

This (and the full size) are good looking, good value tool watches imho.

Was going to suggest a CW but thought it would be a nonstarter. They're derivative but very nice looking watches and, again, good value.
