What other watches do you have?

I'm the opposite - the 'new' sub, GMT II etc all seem overly chunky.

I have actually gone from a 6 digit ref to a 5 digit. I much prefer the smaller shape, but my wrists are pretty small.

It's the typeface of the numbers on the 6 digit GMTs that ruins it for me.

Yeah, in terms of look it’s all down to personal preference. Some people just don’t get on with the more robust new case. I felt the same when seeing 5 vs. 6 digit refs in pictures but once I’ve tried them both in IRL – there was no competition.

I also wonder if any of it is down to age. I’m only 26, I guess if you’re slightly older you’ve probably been interested in watches for a bit prior to the intro of the 6 digit ref, in which case I can see why the love for the 5 digit lingers on. That and the fact the Pepsi is unreal – I’d just rather have the BLNR given the choice.

In any case, congrats, nice piece and evidently it’s what you want! Looks to be in good nic and a full set too. Value creeping up every time I look..

Looking for a decent used Timepeice. Got about 2.5k to drop. Any ideas where to start? Upgrading from a timex so it's my first serious watch

you'll struggle to get a Rolex for that much mate. Might still be able to get an Omega (Speedmaster is the classic) for that, although prices have shot up the last month or so. Pretty sure a Fuker was selling one on here a few months ago for a good price?

Depends what you want, but get yourself down the Burlington Arcade and you might find you can pick up a DateJust or Explorer for not much more than 2.5k. David Duggan would be a good place to start.

first of all it depends on which size you after? 36mm or 39/40mm?

I have the speedmaster, seamaster planet ocean, black bay, air king, oyster perpetual, datejust or colt chronometer in mind

IMO Get a bench mark price from Blowers website and then look to pay 20% less elsewhere

Picked up a JLC Master Ultra Thin 38.5 from June 2015 with box and papers from a pawn shop in essex for £3k. List on it is £5800 so you can get a nearly new from a serious maker if you are willing to wait for the right deal to pop up. This kind of thing does not apply to rolex's, just too well known. JLC not an everyday watch either.

If I had £3k to spend on something and wasnt too fussed on a new watch then I would go omega or rolex. Omega you should have some decent choice at that price. Rolex, I would go for a 1601 blue face datejust (the one with the white gold bezel) on a jubilee bracelet or plain bezel on an oyster. An oysterquartz is on my to buy list at the moment. Think they are going to be going up in value over the next few years. Easily obtained for 2-2.5k in steel.

If you want new, and you want rolex get this - http://www.chrono24.co.uk/rolex/oyster-perpetual-rhodium-dial–id4619007.htm
