Yeah I need to spend more time on it and look at the numbers a bit more, some valid points all round.

Didn't realise you goldsmiths would be willing to negotiate, just looked and the bird can get 10% off the bat with her student discount (whether that applies to omega, I'm not sure) hopefully they might budge some more so that looks like a safer option.

Cheers guys

To be honest, any comments on here regarding saving a few hundred quid by buying this way or that way or getting this card or that card, has kind of ruined buying a luxury watch, hasn't it?

Go find the one you want, walk into a shop and experience buying it. Don't buy it online.

another alternative is you could look for an authorised omega dealer in guernsey/jersey, find a cheap flight there, go and buy the omega, fly back. cheaper cause you don't pay vat in guernsey, jersey on the other hand got like 5% or something. dont get your hopes up if it applies there too, but generally if you pay cash you could get couple of % off

I agree but up until yesterday I wasn't in this position with the money spare so I just want to make sure I get the right deal. I'm no baller so a few hundred quid is better in my pocket than someone else's.

Should be able to get 10% off an omega from an AD somewhere in the uk. Look at AD's in towns which are not full of loaded people who dont have the turnover of stock.

The grey market stuff on warranties is not quite true. Any half decent grey market dealer will be providing the manufacturer warranty for a new watch, but it wont have your name on it or their name, just the name of the AD who originally sold it to them GM dealer. Returning for service etc. will be fine with any watch with the warranty whoever it is stamped by. Any main AD on the high street will send this off for you to omega.

Some question may arise over VAT if you send back a US stamped warranty paper to a UK or EU service center but this is very unlikely.

I have a JLC bought second hand but still within warranty. Warranty is from Watches of Switzerland but has someone elses name on it. Sent it back within warranty to have something checked and they treated me like royalty. Didn't care who's name was on the book.

It might be tough to beat this price or the MW price; http://www.iconicwatches.co.uk/omega-speedmaster-professional-moonwatch-311-30-42-30-01-005.html

Pity you can't stretch to one of these (Pity I cant either) because i think they will be sought after in a few years; http://www.iconicwatches.co.uk/omega-speedmaster-moonwatch-limited-edition-311-33-40-30-02-001.html

All a bit 'welcome to the world of luxury' that. Save the £200 and wear it to a nice restaurant with your Mrs you would otherwise think is a bit steep.

Did you find out how much Watchfinder generally give / offer compared to their stock price?

Chronext and Watch Centre (Bond St) are worth a look.

^ I've already got the BLNR GMT Master 2 so a Sub is a little too similar to that in my opinion…

I have noticed the 'Hulk' Subs seem to just be going up in value…
