Robadob:”Christ. How long did you have to wait to pick that up?”

It came out last year at BaselWorld when I expressed my interest and just got it now so give or take a year.

I love it when AD’s say that, “No we don’t have lists, we’ll note your expression of interest”.

You’re lucky you got it so quickly. Looking forward to what comes out at Basel this year otherwise currently the 5524g is next on my wish list.

It’s £91k and resells for nearly double that so a better investment than a lot of things.

Does it really?

Not doubting but would genuinely be interested in seeing some evidence of that as everyone with an expensive watch tells you it is "a great investment" and "worth double"

Just look on chrono24.co.uk and you can see, it if you really wanted to you can enquire with watchfinder as if you’re selling one and they’ll tell you how much they’re paying.

All Nautilus and Aquanaut models from PP are selling for huge premiums at the moment.

My other Nautilus ref.5711A was £13,500 in 2009. Patek nearly doubled the rrp now to £22K but in the secondary market that watch commands over £40K!

It beggars belief considering it's an uncomplicated stainless steel watch but the demand is there. Careful marketing and release by Patek also fuels this.

Rolexes in general are produced in much higher numbers and in order to make serious money on them you need to wait over 20 years. I bought a ref 116719BLRO GMT two years ago but Rolex then made the stainless steel version of it last year hence the market is now full of people getting rid of it..

The anniversary edition of the ref.5711 in platinum now fetches over £250K , it was under £100K when introduced 3 years ago.

Anyway it is not my objective to buy and sell, I just enjoy wearing them. Each to their own I guess..
