Max bill would be perfect but £500 is too much.

Anyone who knows what they are on about can recommend a vintage watch that's affordable going to last

I want to spend £500-1k on something from 60s-80s that is classic in terms of design

I have seen some older seikos, seamasters etc type just need a steer as I don't know anything about this area

I love watches but my priorities financially have totally changed and I just don't see them as an investment and so to pay 10k plus for a new watch does nothing for me, also would rather wear something nobody else is knocking around in.

Something made in japan or for the Japanese market is always a plus

thanks in advance

Had a major unlucky - lucky turn of events happen this weekend when i was out.

I was in a bar around 2pm on Saturday and my friend asked the time. I looked down and noticed my rolex was not on my wrist. But knew I had it on previously.

Someone took a photo of us about 30 minutes prior and I could see in that image I had it on then.

So after 5 minutes of frantically looking I asked behind the bar, and a young bar man had found it and gave me it back. He wouldn’t take anything so I just gave him £50 and let his manager know what a good deed he had done. He clearly had no idea of its worth.

Somehow one of the pins had come loose and it had fallen off (was serviced by rolex less than a year ago). No idea how I didn’t feel it come off my wrist but as you can imagine was a serious whirlwind of emotions.

CSB.

Yes this is fully insured, but the aggro of going through the insurance was something I was very happy to avoid.

Although I got it valued last year and it’s increased in value a few grand by then.

Similar thing happened to me with a GMT Master years ago while I was in a bar/club at around 1am quite pissed - one of the screw things that you can undo to remove links obviously worked it’s way out and I as I pulled my shirt sleeve up to look at the time it fell off. Scooped it up and put it in my pocket. I thought that was close enough!!! *CSB*

Picked up a Japan domestic market 'turtle' diver (SBDY015) in Hiroshima a few weeks ago for a great price, with kanji/English day wheel. Really nice on.

Happened with my Explorer recently a few times too, 2 months after a fix from Rolex after smashing the crystal. My friend, watchy type, removed some of the pins and dabbed them with superglue to hold the fix. Worked a treat.

^ Have you tried loosening the pins since though? I mashed up the screw heads of my Seamaster strap when someone had done the same thing to them! Had to get it heated and then pins replaced in the end which was boring!

Nice that. Mind me asking how much it was?
