There's a couple of scratches on the watch itself I might try to polish out with Cape cod cloths. Will take it very easy as I don't want to fuck anything up.

You might be better off with a light sand with jeweller's sandpaper followed by a silver polishing cloth. You can get 1200 and 2000 grade paper.

Disclaimer: I know next to nothing about watches but have a degree in Jewellery & Metalwork.

Cheers. I'd hate to fuck it up but at the same time fancy trying it

It should be less abrasive than Scotch-Brite I think. It's what's used to get the surface of silver and gold smooth prior to polishing.

Are you in Edinburgh? I might have a bit somewhere but would need to check.

I'm Edinburgh based mate. I tried the scotch brite on the aftermarket bracelet there and it worked so well I did the Rolex bracelet. Obviously I need to see it in daylight but happy with the result so far.

I tried the Cape Cod polish on the mirrored parts of the watch and again it seems to have worked pretty well. I can probably improve it further with more effort.

Want to buy a pre-owned cartier tank (gold) as a wedding gift to the future-wife.

Anyone recommend a good place to buy women's watches? No idea where to start.
I'm London-based, would prefer to buy from a shop vs online unless it's a huge saving…

Aren’t they ridiculously priced? Everything I’ve seen down Burlington Arcade is very toppy vs other dealers.

I would try Hatton Garden, there are loads of dealers in close proximity and the prices are competitive.

Thinking of getting an IWC pilot chronograph… anyone got one or recommend any particular model?

Cheers, thought that was more new rings/jewels etc, but it's near work so will have a walk down.

Loads of watch shops in HG mate, I never knew either and went there to help a mate looking for a ring for his mrs and saw loads of pieces I wish I could afford

Anyone have recommendations for leather watch straps?

Ideally I want a shop where I can take my watches to pair them up and try a few colours, rather than ordering online, but online recommendations welcome too.

This pic has me feigning for some more ‘interesting’ straps

Hirsch Straps have served me well - get them on Amazon or Watchobsession.

I've bought a few straps from here and cannot fault them.

Any idea how much used BB58s are going for? Thinking of moving mine on…

Anyone have a Root Beer on here? Getting one in a few weeks, never been a bi metal fan but do like the look of these.

I did but ended up selling it - even though it’s quite eye catching, I couldn’t get with the bimetal aspect.

Cheers, have tried one on last year so hopefully I'll like it. Partly bought to try and get bumped up on the list for something else! My mate seems to get on with his.
