Overseas is lovely, particularly the blue dial. IMO I reckon they'll do okay long term - look at the Nautilus/Aquanaut, and RO. The VC is part of those holy three and have been too cheap used for too long. Prices have definitely risen in the last year, wish I'd bought one when they were silly cheap.

They don’t seem to hold as well as others in that price range so unsure if I’d get a discount. Any one got a Vacheron Overseas, any thoughts on them? The AD just got in touch with me to tell me the prices will go up in June.
Overseas is a beautifully made watch and the interchangeability between the rubber, leather and steel bracelet is a breeze which you can do it in seconds.

They overproduce their watches and sell them with high discount to their employees (JLC/IWC/VC are all impacted). If you buy it as an investment / with the idea of re-selling it in the future, I don't think it will hold its value well. VC has the big disadvantages of being owned by Richemont Group.
Thanks for this, I came across something on TZ-UK which mentioned getting a 35% discount on VC and JLC. The rest of the forum mentioned that even with that discount it may be difficult to move on without a loss if you weren't in love with it.

It’s incredible to think that there are people into watches now have only ever made money in the hobby and there is now an expectation that if you’re buying a luxury watch you should be able to sell it for more than or only slightly less than what you paid. If you compare it to cars, diamonds, handbags, almost anything else I can think of there is not the same expectation apart from maybe houses.

Agree with the above and its a shame because VC/IWC and especially JLC make some of the nicest watches. I went to enquire at WoS for the IWC Porteguese Perpetual Calender in gold back in 2017 and it was listed at £29k. I think i could have quite easily got a 10-15% discount. Looking now watchfinder has (albeit slightly older ones) up at £14-15k. So it would have been a terrible investment. Lovely looking piece though!
