Sometimes I'll leave a gym beater on for a day or two by accident and then when I go back to a proper watch I love the feeling of having something substantial on my wrist, sort of reminds me that I am wearing something a bit special.

Agree, I really like titanium - have a ROO 44mm, big old lump but feels like a stainless Sub weight wise.

Nice to hear this positivity about titanium, my next purchase is going to be titanium and wasn’t sure if the lightness was going to be an issue / make it feel cheap

I wouldn't trust Ebays authentication process especially if the watch is on the pricey side. If you can meet up with the private seller at an AD or watch repair shop to have them take the back off it and show it's real first that would be a much safer process.

You could also request that the seller gets a free quote for a service for it because they won't issue one for a moody. No service quote or no original paperwork would set off alarm bells to me.

Sold a Breitling recently via ebay and the authentication process made things really easy to deal with and no chance of anyone conning you. As a buyer I think it offers great reassurance.

Also a 'AD' won't just whip the back off unless you are on first name terms. I wanted to authenticate a Rolex datejust the missus had bought and my local AD said sure they could ship it off to their watchmaker for £200+ and 4 week (and if it were fake you won't see it again). They wouldn't even take the bracelet off to look for any markings on the case.

I had my local Rolex AD take the back off a watch right infront of me that I wanted to authenticate and he did this after I said I was looking to sell it to finance another watch purchase. Been able to send a Rolex watch off to their repair centre for free before for a no charge service quotation albeit that was over 2 years ago so not sure on that working today.

Of course every watch sale on eBay is different but I've read a fair few complaints and horror stories about eBay watch authentication process. Wouldn't touch it myself. Happy it worked for you though!

Go for it, it's very refreshing from the bulk

I feel like the case/lugs don’t flow/taper into the strap clean enough, making it look like a bulk on the wrist with a thin strap IMO.

Any reason why you’re not going for the circular case? Bar this being an anniversary re-issue.

Because I tried it on and it looks fantastic. Size is perfect and looks great on other straps but can't get on with the ladder bracket.

Ah fair dos, I wouldn’t have the wrist size to pull off that kind of case.

It's 37mm. Probably the best looking square-faced chrono for slender wrists.

Every watch enthusiast should have a square faced watch in their collection to mix it up a bit. I love it.

I like the look of that disco, I wanted to love the el primero and the defy skeleton etc as it was imo one of the few attainable skeleton watches from a respected swiss manufacturer.

I tried on so many different models on different occasions to convince myself I liked it, sadly it just didn't feel like I had something special on my wrist.

Sorry for the very newbie question.
Is is still worthwhile buying watches from abroad/airports?

Not UK airports as their prices are same as on the high street. Abroad definitely because not only the euro pricing is cheaper , you will also get the VAT back between %12-17

Yes, the "white birch" , apparently SLGH005 was inspired by the white birch trees that grow on the alpine slopes near Grand Seiko’s Shizukuishi factory.
