Watched that this morning. Hoping it becomes a series with other guests with as much passion and knowledge as Ed.

Yeah really enjoyed it. As wanky as hodinkee can be, they do some great vids on YouTube Cool
Always knew Ed was well into watches, but didn’t know quite how much with regards to serial numbers etc! (I did a lot of googling whilst watching to see which watches they were on about)

Possibly because he genuinely likes watches and buys based on that and not market hype.

The speedy is a great daily and is very versatile, on leather, sailcloth or the bracelet it never looks out of place.

Also wears much smaller than other 42mm, the bezel is very thin which makes the face look bigger but doesn't give the watch clown proportions and wears smaller than most 42mm cases.

The height might seem on the bigger end but in hand the case is quite slim and a few mm are actually attributable to the domed crystal/hesalite so it doesn't wear or look as high as 13mm on wrist.

Exactly yeah. Every watch has its place. Honestly don’t get more pleasure when wearing my Rolex compared to the Gshock. A varied collection is good, brand wise, complication wise and dial/colour scheme.

Next watch will definitely be the GS pink blossom, which will fit nicely in my collection.

Kadafi, you don’t have to listen to his little incel rants about Rolex though. Like a Reddit post you can’t escape

I appreciate GS as a watch maker, but you'd have to be brave to spend £6k on a Japanese watch with a pink dial.

Why’d you say that out of interest? You feel the same about Lange, Glashutte or other non Swiss manufacturers?
The quality, craftsmanship and history is there…

The pink dial on the GS is quality, remember reading the hodinkee article on it.
Probably the nicest GS I’ve seen.

I like watching the talking watches series, where people explain why they bought a certain watch and what it means to them, which massively overshadows what brand it is.

Mainly because for me a watch with a pink dial would get literally no use. Don't get me wrong, I do love the look of the dial, but just couldn't see myself wearing it much.

Add to that its produced by a slightly obscure watchmaker and for me it doesn't make sense. However if you love the dial and can pull it off I can see how it works

Grand Seiko make some of the most beautiful dials. There’s a place for a GS is any collection.

I’ll be adding one of these to my collection soon.

Wait @Deuce - for someone who bangs on about GS - you don’t actually have one currently?

Not really banging on, I’ve just said that GS make a better watch than Rolex, which is/was? the be all and end all of watches on here.

I’ve no brand loyalty or fanboyism… they’re multi billion pound corporations that make outdated jewellery for men, it ain’t that deep

So overall you think GS make a better watch than Rolex? Or a specific watch?

Overall yeah. The quality and finishing is far better. I mean it’s not even an opinion anymore.
Why do you think they don’t?

The Grand Seiko boutique is the best watch experience in London. The guys that work there know their shit, are very friendly and always up for a chat even when they know you're not buying anything.

Nice watches too Smiling
