To help with your choice of garment, Barbour now publish the Chest Tolerance measurement of each jacket. This measurement indicates the measurement around the chest of the jacket, for example, a size 40 inch (Euro 50) jacket with a 5” (12.5cm) Chest Tolerance, will measure 45 inches ( 114cm). If the jacket was sized as ‘Medium’, with a 5” Chest Tolerance, it would measure 44 inches (112 cm) around the chest, as Medium is to fit 38-40 inch chest (Euro 48-50).
Don't believe it myself to be honest, the woman on the phone told me the pit to pit on a 34 chest was 20"
