First Gerrard loses Liverpool the title, now he knocks England out the World Cup. Both mistakes are so amateur it's unreal

Dont think we dominated.

Lallana hype is out of control. Had a good season in a team that basically achieved what you'd expect them to do so. Good player but cant ever see him being a game changer for England

Suarez is just too good. Wish him well rest of the tournament. Can see what it means to him.

i'd much rather have 30% possession and players that actually capitalize on their chances rather than 70% possession with missed opportunities left, right & centre. having more possession doesn't mean you were the better team at all, look at all mourinho's sides in the past & how they would win games consistently without seeing much of the ball.

no one is saying he'll change things (although cant do any worse (literally)). just better than playing a shit striker who doesnt score (welbeck) out of position (?!).

but yeah, in prem team of the season…maybe not good enough lol

people expected southampton to be a place behind man u??

Absolute pub talk that, Guidalinho.

Agree about Welbeck.

They finished behind everyone you'd expect them to and above everyone else you'd expect them to (maybe not Newcastle, but they're a joke themselves)

you're talking absolute shit with the southampton finishing where they did stuff.
reasons why their striker has signed for a champions league club and 2 of their other players are being linked with 20-30 million pound moves. and their manager has been poached.

England dominated after the first goal right up until we scored and then it went shit again cos Uruguay needed the points as much as us. We had about 5 or 6 great chances to score but our strikers forgot their lines as usual.

Of course I'd prefer us to win with 1% possession of it meant a win. Just saying it was a good performance overall other than having a world class striker that could be the diefference for us.

difficult header - Suarez 1 Rooney 0
having to finish - Suarez 1 Rooney 0

Rooneys goal doesn't come into it cos 9 times out of 10 a striker would have tapped it in.

Did Suarez fluff his lines or just take his two chances?

That was all the difference was for me tonight.

No you fucking idiot. Im saying that's the type of player we've been missing forever! We really should have scored at least one goal more over the two games, with the chances we created and shots taken just between sturridge and Rooney.

1 goal more equals 1 point and we'd be sitting a lot prettier.

"Rooney played really well" ???
Laughing out loud Laughing out loud Laughing out loud

All I saw was clueless cunts with no direction, diving all over the place and then their one "world class player" fluffing his lines…… Again.
Annoying that we'll get another week of front page stories discussing what position Wayne Rooney can't play in, if Italy beat Costa Rica

Japan were just as clueless tonight, good individual players but no front man to bang in the all important goals. Playing high balls into the box against players 2/3rds of a foot taller than them. Laughing out loud

Uruguay were very strong in the tackle, I thought Rooney was England's best player but he had two or three Uruguay players snapping at his ankles every time he had possession and went long spells without even seeing the ball. Runs where he beat a couple of players was something I've not seen from him in a long time.

The Morning After. Everyone in a bad mood at work, scowls etc.
Both games we were given a footballing lesson in world cup football. Savy opponents played us like a fiddle, playing to there strengths and our weakness.
I sort of agree with the "country\passion" argument. From singing the National anthem, to busting a blood vessel on the pitch, to actually sounding bothered in defeat(JH not included. You just have to look at the other nations to see this, from Brazil singing there anthem to Mexico\CostaRica giving 110% - Did you see the pics of Germany squad with Mrs Merkel, HUGE national pride, Same for the Dutch. Honestly dont think we see it the same as other nations. These thing along with fairly ordinary gave us what we deserved. Nowt.

All this talk about building for the future irks me. This idea that the england nation team has to be used as some kind of test bed for future younger players seem daft, let the players develop at their clubs. Just my opinion but the England team should consist of the best players available at the time, regardless of age or anything else. Seems like we're constantly building and never progressing.
