smith wrote: Thought we played well. Difference was a world class player. Would have been happy with a draw. Never known an England team to dominate possession like that. So many what ifs if we could just have put a couple away.

Suarez is just too good. Wish him well rest of the tournament. Can see what it means to him.

Played well? Dominated? I'll have a pint of what you were on.

Too many below par performances from England's very average team. Coupled with Roy's meak tactics in the first half. We were going nowhere until a half chance was created. Uruguay were happy holding us at arms length at 1-0 as we could do fuck all with the ball. As soon as their win was compromised they upped the effort again and we buckled. Piss poor.

At least that should be the end of Gerrard for England and we can focus on the future.

For the record, and i feel i have to clear this up…..i derive no pleasure in life from being a know it all. It makes my whole life cynically shit, im 38 and nothing ever ever ever happens to surprise me (bobby zamora aside), its like being a psychic but from life experiences. I wish i could go back and live like fukers (if i could be as deluded as smith for just one day i would be so happy) i really do, but its too late for me. Im literally just seeing life out and waiting to die.

Pop star Rhianna offered advice to England's defence after Luis Suarez inspired Uruguay to a 2-1 win, tweeting: "Man they know better than to give Suarez that much room bruh!"

The resident footy expert has spoken Cool

Can't blame Rooney for schoolboy defending and a lack of steel in midfield, had hoped we'd have shut up about him by now

Rooney will never play for england again in a competition, so it really is time to drop the boring bullshit now. Still joint highest english scorer in this tourno though.

He's still young enough to play in the Euros should we make it there. Enjoy another 2 years of hearing people discussing it.

We expected fuck all. Not been thrashed like the former World Champions. A world class player at his peak took his two chances and we got beat by one of the top teams in the world 2-1. No shame in that with no expectations and I'm not even disappointed cos it was always on the cards. I'm just guilty of supporting England and having my glass half full.

Cheering on Italy later despite knowing full well Uruguay are going to give them a tough game next week and at least get the draw they need. But it's football. Anything can happen. Like it did at the euros in 2004 and wemberley for noble's team this year Eye-wink

For exapmle : 3 regulars in defence so to speak are good but not great baines jagelka and cahill none of them play in Europe regular(also there to be tested against top quality players (chail arguably but hes a freshman )

its not heard of other players in national teams that are great great players with only domestic experience but i dont see all three doing so and its 3 quarters of the defense (big risk ) some england fans /supporters need to be realistic(arguably patient).

(TRY) develop and focus the players that exposed to playing in europe otherwise those simple thro ball/linkup for the fisrt goal a will be seen more regularly, push gibbs and jones etc

rio made a good point a few days ago its " the choices and learning from them during the game " not just after. lack of European exposure is a big part(not just for the defense imho shouldn't be surprised about the result or the player that scored last night some fans are naive which leads me to the ooooover hype of lalana and towsend
but when i saw lambert come on complete joke then again andy carrol is on stand by(true) ffs

more like - throws lots of shit at wall, see what sticks.

yeah, madness to think italy will beat costa rica.
then uruguay will have to go for it a little as they'll be thinking we'll roll over against costa rica.
