he played well, did exactly what he was supposed to.
even though we lost that was easily the best england WC performance in a long time.

Played well, kept the ball decently and no long aimless balls like we usually see. Only difference was they took a half chance from 20 yards and we didn't..

Good game that.
Glen Johnson is shocking.
Rooney is easy to blame, probably one of England's better performers
The pitch was shocking for both teams, pretty poor play by both.
We will come second in the group

Looks like ivory coasts prem stars of past and present are a bit better than England's.

All this talk bout attacking players when we let ourselves down defensively, little to no screening from the midfield and the back 4 and goalkeeper all at sea. Missing the Chelsea racist big time, not taking Cole could be a mistake, but no fixing the right back position as there isn't a good one in the whole country.

It was basically like watching Liverpool without Suarez. Quick counter attacking football and a defence riddled with more holes than a Swiss cheese.

Nice to see that the media have focused on the positives and not just crucified em for losing.
The other two teams are both definitely dangerous, but neither keep the ball in the middle as well as the Italians, so we should fare better

that's sturridges game. one on one he beats defenders on the regular. he's very explosive. tough result england played well. just didnt take the chances. rooney missed a crucial chance late on. didnt do enough on pirlo also. he really is a joy to watch though!
disappointed with wilsheres performance too.

Wilshere not a great option when chasing the game.
If Ox is back for the next game that'll really help

Think that was England's best performance in a tournament since Portugal in Euro 2004. Indicative I know of how poor England have been in tournament football since 96/98, but still, good to see them pass the ball and create.

Pirlo had 117 or something silly like that.

Agree with this, plenty to be positive about. Lallana showed some nice touches when he came on and throw ox in the mix we'll get through. Shame Glenn Johnson is so shit.

Lallana was awful, not ready at this level.
Ross was best sub, lovely run until Wayne decide to take the ball from him.

Awful? Do explain
15 Jun 2014 10:23
I thought he was lively on the ball, didn't really make serious impact - but saying he was awful is harsh.
Same as the criticsms of Wilshere

England have had the most shots in the tournament so far, 2nd best passing accuracy and top passing in opposition half too. A lot to be positive about compared to the last 10 years.
