Played ok, but against the Italians who are past masters at controlling a game we were always up against it.
Too many inexperienced players which could of worked if it wasn't for the Italians doing what they do best…soaking up pressure and playing to there strength or should that be our weakness.
Rooney was turgid and needs to be benched, as an English elder he needed to be a pillar to the bairns, he played like he always does…no desire, which lets be honest WAS one of the major plus points in his game.Think Baines is getting stick for other peoples failings.
Thought Wellbeck did a good job chasing around breaking up play, Henderson went missing and Johnsons limited game was very apparent. Wiltshire doesn't look fit. Gerrard like Rooney needed to be one of our pillars, but only seems to step up for Liverpool.
Let's be fair, take away the inevitable England hype. That game played out exactly how it should of.

Ps heard the Adds on talksport with that scouse Gerard Rooney Jose impersonator… Excellent!

PPS were still above Uruguay …. COE!

The Ronseal ads? Actually pretty funny.

Thought Welbeck did enough to justify starting again on Thurs. Toss up between Sterling, Barkley, Ox and Rooney for the other 2 spots. Would be tempted to go with the first 2 and use Ox after 65/70

rooney ran the furthest out of all the england players in the first half so i don't think you can question his desire, he just wasn't suited to the role he was asked to play. if he puts that chance away everyone says how well he played in an unfamiliar role, making one and scoring one.

henderson was solid considering him and gerrard were up against three of the best midfielders at the world cup - all italy's attacks came down the left or lofted over his head by pirlo so he played well IMO.

nobody is hyping really, just pleasantly surprised that we passed it so well and looked like a dangerous team for the first time in years…

Rooney should be played up front, in his best position.

Sterling must have red bull running through his veins, what a performance and what a man. Amazing.

No point playing him out wide, either up top or bench.

Don't get this sterling hype.

Didn't you see see his attempted pass to Jack from 5 yards really summed up his game.

Another header he attempted looked like a full man kid.

Good chance England score nil point. Costa Rica surprised big time, and heat will be no probs for CR so will keep running and running.

Wasn't a bad shout no goals being scored. Why Harry didn't get the job I don't know. The way Hodgson sits slumped on the bench…
