If you want a temporary fix check this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv6XNQpCRjk

Put toothpicks in the back to stop the fans turning. The console will cook itself, then RRoD, then reset itself. When you re-start it, it'll realise it hasn't actually got the RRoD fault and boot up and play normally without static For A While. Be warned this will force your console to a E73 state faster than if you keep using your Xbox as it is currently. Once you've used this technique a few times the internals will cook and the console will turn to a permanent unfixable E73 state and be fucked.

Anyone else had it happen? Are the RROD about to come and spunk all over my xbox?

This is an E73 Error, or will very quickly become an E73 Error (one red light). It is to do with the Ethernet port connection.

Bad news it is not possible to fix it permanently (tho i can tell you a way to temporarily fix it without opening the console) and it is not covered under Microsofts RRoD warranty as a RRoD is an E74 message. Microsoft will want about £90 to fix it.

Best thing to do, sell it on Ebay without the Harddrive to get some cash like i did and then buy a new Arcade console. See: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item;=160336546351#ht_500wt_1146

Thanks I will do that, only thing problem is i've updated the firmware however the console is like 4/5 years old now and it's only ever showed the RROD once.

Whats the temp fix? Thanks

The update will black this proposed exploit. Most people wont want to run the exploit but it's interesting for some people. sounds like it opens up the 360 to hackers to run stuff like XBMC, emulators etc on a 360.

If it's any good a second 360 without the update would be the best way round it I'd think.

they got it running as a proof of concept but it didn't use any of the graphics acceleration or fancy bits of the cpu. This sounds like they've opened up all the hardware for the coders to use.

I play quite a bit of fifa, doesn't disconnect much for me at that stage…only when you dawdle. Anyone fancy a game now?
