My younger brother is just finishing his first year at Bristol, he lives in the halls right next to the law department - Hawthorns - which is one of the old houses I think. He's really enjoyed it, seems to be just the right amount of people to get to know easily, it's close to a few shops and there's some ok nightlife nearby as he seems to go out a fair bit. Plus he does law so it's handy for getting to lectures quickly. Pretty sure there's some other departments round there too as far as I remember. Only downsides seem to be it's a fair distance to other halls, and the city centre is a bit of a trek.

goldney is by far the best out of those and any hall at the uni.. its in good location (not in fucking stoke bishop, really close to uni and nightlife) self catered, loads of people and good social.. and the rooms have fucking balconies! so sick! CHH is decent aswell, hawthorns is on the university campus and is alright aswell. never been to queens road so cant say. But all those you listed are by the uni/clifton so are closest to nightlife compared to any other halls (the ones in stoke bishop). You should think about Manor hall, single sex floors but everything else is like goldney although slightly cheaper. Also think about woodland court (owned by a2dominion but mostly freshers). Really nice accomodation with ensuites and decent kitchens and spitting distance from decent nightlife/uni/clifton sainsburys. I wouldnt recommend any of the student houses tbh, and if you are like me (really disorganised with food/alcohol and cant plan ahead that well) i would not go to halls in stoke bishop as there is literally fuck all there except halls. The social is good in stoke bishop but allow the 40 minute walk to uni/anything

I've got my first one monday, last minute stuff now just seems quite futile when I've been revising solidly for the past two months. Stupid shit like sub-fusc, what type of water bottle, waking up for the exam is stressing me out way more than actually sitting down and doing the stupid thing

Should be heading to Bristol uni next year, if I get the grades etc. Any fukers live(d) in the following places: Clifton Hill House, Goldney Hall, 115 Queens Road or The Hawthorns? Have to disagree, I was in one of the stoke bishop halls, hiatt baker, was really good. Don't put too much emphasise on being self catered. The stoke bishops halls are much bigger, hiatt baker had 400 people badock had around the same. Meal times are the best places to meet people and it nice to be around so many people in first year. Alot of people i know who were in self catered regretted it the following year and wish they had been in the catered halls in stoke bishop. More of a hallsy feel. Also youve got your second and third years to leave near uni its not a big deal being in stoke bishop for the first. Also Swede, Bass to the Face on 14th of June at dojos- old school garage come down if youre about. Any other brisol fukers drop me a pm and i'll sort you out. Give me a chin rub on the way in.
